About IISER Pune The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune is a public institution located in the western Indian city of Pune. IISER Pune Eligibility
BS-MS Programme
Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent level exam with science stream in current year of application or the year before are eligible to apply for admissions. Candidates will be admitted to an IISER through one of the following three channels.
MSc Programme
A. Students with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale in aggregate for SC, ST, and PwD candidates) in BSc or an equivalent degree with Chemistry as one of the main subjects.
Integrated PhD Programme

PhD Programme
Masters; (or B.E., B.Tech., M.Tech, MBBS) degree holders in any branch of science including physics, chemistry, mathematics, biological sciences, ecology and environmental sciences, biodiversity, psychology or equivalent. or
Qualified a National Eligibility exam that provides a 5-year Ph.D. fellowship such as CSIR–JRF / UGC–JRF / DBT–JRF–A/ ICMR–JRF / DBT–BINC–JRF / Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship. The fellowships must be valid until 31-January-2024.Qualified JEST (rank holder up to 500) or GPAT (rank holder up to 500) or NBHM in last two years.
Externally Funded PhD Programme
The educational qualifications remain the same as for the regular candidates. (Master’s Degree in Science/ B.Tech/ M.Tech/ B.Pharm/ M.Pharm/ BS-MS degree with minimum 60% aggregate marks [marks relaxation for reserved category students]) Only persons engaged in R & D work in Technical / Scientific Institutions/ Industries or R & D Establishments are eligible.
International PhD Programme
Only nationals of countries other than India can apply for this programme. At the time of admission, the applicants for the PhD programme must have completed a 4-year undergraduate degree or a master’s degree from an institution located outside India.
IISER Pune Admission
Admission to IISER Pune is based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced or the National Testing Agency (NTA) Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UEET). The institute also offers direct admission to students who have qualified in certain national and international science Olympiads.

- Institute Fellowship: All students admitted to the BS-MS (Dual Degree) program are eligible for an institute fellowship of Rs. 5,000 per month.
- National Eligibility Test (NET) Fellowship: Students who have qualified for the NET fellowship are eligible for a fellowship of Rs. 25,000 per month.
- KVPY Fellowship: Students who have qualified for the KVPY fellowship are eligible for a fellowship of Rs. 5,000 per month.
- INSPIRE Fellowship: Students who have qualified for the INSPIRE fellowship are eligible for a fellowship of Rs. 5,000 per month.
