NIT Calicut or National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC) is one of the 31 institutions of national importance set up by an Act of Parliament namely the ‘National Institute of technology Act 2007’, and is fully funded by the Government of India. NITC is a public engineering institution located in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It was established in 1951 as the Regional Institute of Technology Kerala, and became a National Institute of Technology in 2002. NITC is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India.

Kozhikode or Calicut is one of the prominent trade and commerce centre in Kerala, situated towards the north part of the State. The name Calicut was given by the British who made it the capital of Malabar region. Today it is the headquarters of a district of the same name and the third most populous city in
the state of Kerala.

Admission

Admission to NITC’s undergraduate programs is based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. Students who have secured a valid rank in JEE Main are eligible to apply for admission to the institute. The admission process also includes an interview.

Admission to NITC’s postgraduate programs is based on the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Students who have secured a valid score in GATE are eligible to apply for admission to the institute. The admission process also includes an interview.
